I am studying Biomedical Sciences at Edinburgh Napier University. Eventually, I would like to go into pharmaceutical and drug research but that will be after I am finished with my studies. In the mean time, I work on the side and love training to keep myself busy.

Studies

Medicine is usually a little bland and repetitive but I promise it isn't all that bad. It'll be better when I'm a researcher myself.

Training

My most recent obsession has been Muay Thai, known as the Art of 8 Limbs. Yes, it hurts, but in a good way.

Work

I think mixology is an underappreciated art. Nothing better than a good cocktail or a couple of good ones.

Studies

Over this last year, I have studied:• Biochemistry - Covering a range of knowledge to do with cell biology and biological chemistry, generally going over everything that goes on in our bodies to keep us kicking about.• Genes and Inheritance - This is all about genetics, genes, and DNA. Everything we go over you need to imagine because you can't exactly look at it yourself, unless it is through a microscope.• Applied Microbiology - Microorganisms are part of everything and you can find them everywhere there is life, it's all about what can we use them form to help us. There are also millions of them all over you right now, just don't think about it too much.• Symbiosis - The biological relationships between everything and how we live together, whether it's parasites using an organism for their gain or life working together to benefit each other.• Physiology, Adaptation and Disease - Relevant to all the different mechanisms within organisms that allow them to adapt to their environment and thrive within it and how that happens.

Training

Sports have always been a big part of my life.Throughout Primary School, I competed in track and field events, and then later in High School, I switched to basketball.During this time, I also went through phases of Boxing, Muay Thai, Capoeira, and Aikido. As much as I liked team sports, there is something about only being able to rely on your own ability to perform that team sports can't do for me.The excitement that combat sports give me is like none other honestly, being on the edge of my seat and studying fighters so I can try and emulate their incredible skills.
It is really on the best forms of exercise and the greatest way to manage stress when life gets a little overwhelming.

Work

Whether you like a simple pint, a classic spirit with mixer or the nice and simple shot of your preference.Going into mixology and cocktail bartending has taught me to appreciate all of those so much more than I could before, to be able to pick out taste notes in the darkest, smokiest whisky or see that there might be more to gin than just being a perfume.I find drinks fascinating in the same way I love cooking, the way you season a meal and structure the recipe for a drink are very similar too me. Typically, a base spirit with citrus and some kind of sweetness, but after that basic skeleton for a cocktail there are endless possibilities for customising to your own personal tastes.Have you had a clarified drink before? To make it, you must let a mix curdle with milk (usually) and citrus, then afterward, filtering out the not-so-nice curdle. This leaves you with a delicious, velvety smooth drink to enjoy.
I highly recommend one.
